The most amazing Bridal Shower!
June 6, 2007
Scott and I are getting married in San Francisco this September. Our wedding theme, well, my wedding theme is Old World Ballroom meets Modern Bling. Our colors are classic black and white and we are going to incorporate crystals wherever we can. So, I am totally into anything black and white and vintage right now! So much so that I have changed my logo colors to black and white and have been creating images with a very timeless vintage feel to them. The technique is what I like to call ‘Vintage Vogue’.So, with a little background of my wedding and current mood, you will better be able to appreciate what my girls did for my shower. I arrived early to take photos of everything and when I entered the room, I had about 10 of my most favorite people standing there to greet me. I turned to the living room to find a long table the entire length of the room covered in green (my favorite color!!!) with a damask patterned table runner, vases of hydrangeas, and black chivari chairs! I gasped and immediately got tears in my eyes. As I approached the tables for a closer look, they had black square plates and a custom menu. Over to the side were individual raspberry chocolate cakes and custom cookies with an ‘S’ in the theme colors - not sure if the ‘S’ was for Scott, Stewart, or Skog but they sure were tasty. Everything was perfect! As if that wasn’t enough, I turned the corner into the kitchen to find the most delicious spread of finger foods and off in the corner was little mojito bar with a full service sexy bartender (My MOH Jen’s husband, Brad). He made the most incredible blueberry mojitos! Everybody wore black and white and we all had such a fun time! Good job girls, you definitely outdid yourself this time!

Blueberry Mojitos. MMMMM. And check out the sweet little umbrella! Hand made with some matching paper and wooden skewers! So Cute!

This was watermelon soup and so AMAZING. I’m not typically one for cold soup, but this was fantastic! I need to get the recipe!

My gorgeous sister and Maid of Honor, Lindsay

I got so many fun gifts! This was a black and white apron with rubber gloves. When I came home and showed Scott he said “Did you let them know that you don’t clean?”. Funny thing is, that is exactly what we were laughing about when this pic was taken…

And a group photo – thanks brad for being such a good sport! I know these showers are just so fun!

Thanks again ladies! This party is magazine worthy!
I’m so glad this came out well! Your sis emailed me a few months ago asking about where we rented the stuff from the showcase because you loved that table so much!
Holy moly!! That’s like the best planned shower EVER!! Have you heard of The Hostess Blog? http://www.hostessblog.com They are starting a section on “great parties and showers” and I think you should DEFINITELY submit this there.
Karen
aka sakegirls from the knot (I love your blog!!!) I finally realized there was a comment section

Congratulations! Your table runner is made of the exact same material as my shootsac!
beautiful shower! found your blog via the hostessblog.
quick question — do you know where the cookies are from? great favor idea!
LOVE IT! It looks just like what I did for my wedding! Like you, early last year I became mysteriously obsessed with black and white and vintage-esque images, and I chucked my whole original wedding plan and went with black and white with green. I found a black and white damask print fabric online, and had table runners and my aisle runner made for my June 9th wedding. I have a few photos on my blog if you want to check it out, but I’m waiting on my photographers photos. I even had a black sash on my wedding gown, and found black and white damask cocktail napkins!
Your shower was absolutely stunning. Everything looks so very elegant. These are must blog images.:)

Great Shower! Love the Black & White Damask Fabric! Can you give me your source?
Thanks! It’s a great day!
amazing!!! so this is where one of my black and white ‘oops’ towel aprons went?!!! black and white damask fabric is definitely IN right now… i actually just did the Metro Cooking & Entertaining Show in Washington, DC in November. I was chosen to decorate the Green Room (where the celebrities that are speaking wait to go on stage), … in this case it was PAULA DEEN! I just thought you would like to know that the runners I provided were almost identical to the ones used at your shower! Different versions of that particular apron have been one of my most popular. Congrats on being showered with an unbelievable shower!
Hi there,
I absolutely LOVE every little detail of your shower. I’m busy planning my wedding and I’m going to steal alot of your ideas. I planned on incorporating the damask pattern into our table runners and invitations. Do you mind me asking who did your menus? I really like how they’re done.
Gosh, to only be a fly on the wall at your actual wedding. You should post pics if it’s already happened!
Thanks for sharing,
Katie
Absolutely Beautiful! I saw that the runners are hand-made (which is fine with me), I just can’t find black/white Damask fabric anywhere!! Any ideas?? Do you know if they bought it at a store or on-line?
Thanks a million!!
Hi!
Everything looks amazing! I have the same question, where did you find the black and white Damask fabric? Could they ship to Canada?
Thank-you
I have a co-worker who is using the Damask theme. I also wanted to inquire about the Damask fabric and where we can find it.
Hi Ladies! Wow! I can’t belive how popular this post was! Well warranted though, my girls did a phenominal job. They purchased the damask print fabric from an Interior Design Store. Any local design company should be able to order it for you. I know I actually have an apron and camera bag with the same exact pritn and material.
I hope that helps!
..i forgot to comment about your work…i cruised your site and your photography is absolutely phenomenal!!! also, thanks for the press.

Hi there. I loved your shower. I have been looking for months for the right fabric to make the same runners. I cannot find a black/ivory damask anywhere. Do you know the name of your fabric? Or any ideas where I could buy/rent similar runners or fabric? I have not had any luck. Thank you!
Beautiful work Jennifer. Your photos are just stunning
I wanted to let all those that asked about the fabric that it is called Waverly Essence in Onyx. There is also a mirror image of the fabric in a smaller scale called Waverly Mini Muse. I tracked it down after lots of looking on the internet.

Hi Jennifer! I’m planning on damask wedding and am really curious about where you guys found the fabric for the table runner.
Thanks!

Hi, love the pics, can you tell me where the bridesmaids got their necklaces? I really love them
Hi Jennifer,
This is basically what I want to do for my wedding. You answered almost all the questions about where everything was bought–thanks! One question though, do you know where they ordered the menu card stationary?
Thanks so much!
Karen
I absolutely love this theme. Well done – beautiful photos. I am using the same idea, only with red as the accent color. I came across a great site for damask patterned invitations, menus, etc, it is The White Isle http://www.whiteaisle.com/
Did you ever get the recipie for the watermelon soup? It looks fabulous and would be the perfect edition to a “Pink” wedding shower that I am hosting! Please let me know….

I love this shower! I am doing something similar (thanks to your site) for a shower next Saturday. I have a question as to the timing of everything, as believe it or not, I’ve never given a shower, and haven’t been to many. It’s at 2:00, Sat. afternoon. How do you time the drinks, food (appetizers, cake, cookies…) with gifts, socializing, a few high-class “games.” Any advice? Thanks.
Michael Miller does Damask in black/white, chocolate/white, green/white, pink/white & an orange/pink. You can find the fabric at fabric.com for $14.95/yd. Also, there is someone selling Damask fabric on ebay right now. I think the Michael miller is $8.95/yd on ebay. Good luck!
[...] found this amazing gallery on photographer Jennifer Skog’s blog and I couldn’t resist making an inspiration board for this great colour combination. [...]

WOW! AMAZING! Im super late posting, but I’ve been googling looking for these black and white damask table runners for my wedding in 8 wks. Figured I’d post to see if any of you lucky ladies found them or have since made them and would be up for selling? My wedding is Oct. 18. I’ve found the fabric online, but unfortunately havent been blessed w/the martha stewart gene to make them and am also on a budget! Figured going in on it w/another damask bride would be best!
Any leads greatly appreciated! Thanks and good luck!
Best,
Nic

Jennifer your shower is truly the most inspirational thing I’ve seen all year. I fell in love with the color scheme instantly!!! One question, I went to Stuart Rentals for the linen and they had several greens. Do you remember which green you choose for your linen? I want that exact color. It perfect!!!!! Thanks for any info.
I am SO into Damask right now and looking to overhaul my room with the pattern. I have decorative boxes with the exact pattern as the table runner….do you know where the fabric was purchased? I’d love to buy some to make some pillows for my room!
Thanks,
Courtney

Hi! I was surfing and found your blog post… nice! I love your blog.
Cheers! Sandra. R.
Wow, those girls really went all out! Looks like it was a great party! One of my friends is getting married in a few months and she has hinted at what she wants at her shower, but I’m finding it hard to plan so much! It’s not only the shower I am helping with, but other things as well! Don’t get me wrong though, I love helping her out with everything, especially doing some research into a Chicago Wedding Band for her reception. I love live music! But I think I’m really going to have the other girls share this huge project with me! A little extra help couldn’t hurt!
Your pictures are amazing. I love the green color scheme. Very elegant.
